Ideas For a Eulogy For a Brother

Death is a fact of life. As much as we don't want to speak about it, there will come a time that we have to stand up in a podium to honor the loved ones that passed on to the afterlife. In an occasion such as giving a eulogy for brother, sister, mother or father, we want it to be special. We want the world to know that you are proud to be related to this person and that it is a great loss without him. It may also be something that we long to tell them but weren't able to do so.

However, in speeches like this one, some people have difficulty in finding where to begin or just simply ran out of things to say. It could be the fact that the speaker has a falling out with the dead person or they haven't spent much time together when the latter was still alive. This is an awkward situation that must be prevented. Hence, preparation is a must. Here are some ideas to say specially for a eulogy for brother which could more or less apply to other members of the family:

Brother

1. Memorable things you do together while growing up. This is probably the best way to start a eulogy. Starting with a narration of the funny instances that took place with you and the departed brother will help set up the mood and might spare you from breaking down right away. In here, you can describe how he looked like while he was younger, his funny mannerisms, mischievous things you did together, instances wherein you learned a lesson in life together.

2. Cause for admiration. In your eulogy, you want people to know why you are proud to be the brother of the deceased. Hence, you can cite some of his accomplishments, amazing traits, and his struggles.

3. Relationship with others. You can also include his contribution to society, how he was at work, with his family and with you. This does not necessarily be good things but it would only be proper if it delivered in a non-offensive way.

4. Lessons you learned from his life. Every person aspires to have left a certain legacy to the ones they've left behind. This is the part that the audience and even the spirit of the dead anticipate to hear. If the life lessons were not expressly given by the deceased, you can try picking it some ideas from how he led his life, how he dealt with the trials. This does not necessarily mean a citation of memorable instances but as long as a lesson can be derived from it.

5. Things you wanted to say as a bid of farewell. This is where you can express your feelings towards his death, how you and the people around you should accept his death and other things you wanted to say to him.

That's it! By using the tips above, you should be well off on your eulogy for a brother.
